So I'm graduating this May and have been horribly behind on searching and applying for jobs. Last night, I sent my resume to 4 different jobs, went through a list of 50+ companies that do what I'm interested in to find those that have local branches (only about a dozen did!), and found several places to keep an eye on in case they ever post a job. Progress, yes, but still behind. At least that's what I thought . . .

I got a call this evening from one of the jobs I applied to (totally wasn't expected it!). They said that they had already done first round interviews, but wanted to talk to me since I had the kind of background they were looking for. They then proceeded to give me a first-round interview over the phone right then and there. Um, yeah . . . I was soo freaked. Not only was the interview over the phone, which is kinda hard, and not only did I have absolutely no notice (and therefore, no prep time), but this was my FIRST EVER interview!!

I really hoped they liked me, cuz this job would be awesome. She did say she would talk to the president to see where she wants to take it since I'm a late addition and that they would let me know by the end of the week. That could be good, right?

*and I'm still kinda shaking from the adrenaline high*

Alright, I admit it . . . I'm addicted to fanfic. Ridiculously, completely, it's-taken-over-my-life addicted. Now this is not a new development in any way, shape or form. But I have just realized the last two days how often I actually refresh my lj and check ff.net (while mostly bad writing, there are some great writers there) for new fics. Since ff.net has been down, I have checked it constantly every 15 minutes (when I'm online). No joke.

This is bad, right? I shouldn't be doing this, should I?

*whimper* Why does it have to be today that it's down? I'm stuck at school for 4 hours, and I'm not only caught up on school reading, I'm actually ahead! ff.net is usually good for a little entertainment at least, but no . . . I have nothing to read now (except fics I have saved that I've read already, but, while they are good, my brain craves newness).

god, i need a life . . . or a significant other . . . or chocolate. if i can't have fic, i'd settle for any of these.

Ok, so I was on Fanfiction.net just now and while on the TV Shows page, my eyes just happened to glance at the number of fics for Hannah Montana and noticed that the number for Hannah Montana is almost the same as the number of fics for Bones. And it has surpassed the number of fics for my first fandom, JAG.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?????

Don't get me wrong, I think Miley is just a bundle of cuteness and pretty, and I loved her dad when I was growing up (I swear I'm not as old as I sound), and I have all her songs on my computer b/c they are a huge hit for the girls I babsit (and I admit most of them aren't half bad), but SERIOUSLY!?

The long-running JAG and the awesome Bones are just so much more fic-inspiring!! It will be a sad day in life when the number of fics for Hannah Montana outnumber those of Bones. (I am too scared to even go to the fic page b/c I know who the target demographics are and how much drama and bad writing they have in RL *shudders*)

I guess I can take comfort that both the Stargates still have more fics, but it's not much comfort . . .

(in honor of this post, I did indeed put on a HM song, though . . . pathetic, I know)

I come presenting a S/W fic. This is the first and only fic I have ever posted, but not the first and only to be written. Enjoy!

Title: Only Fair

Author: Jagladymac

Rating: K+ (for one word)

Spoilers: None

Pairing: Elizabeth/John

Season: Any after Season two starts

Disclaimer: Unfortunately not mine.

As her mind slowly fought its way back to consciousness, she vaguely registered that something was wrong. Her gradually awakening senses confirmed the niggling suspicion. Something was definitely wrong. The first thing she consciously took note of was the smell. Her pillow smelled different. So did the sheets surrounding her. They smelled distinctly male, distinctly him. Then she felt how the right side of her body was noticeably warmer than the left. Of course, that might be due to the heat coming off the body next to her. The body whose leg was snuggled securely between her own and whose arm was laying across her body and holding her left hip firmly in his hand. The skin to skin contact of hand on hip (the hand had somehow snuck its way under her shirt) and bare leg on bare leg (she didn’t remember how or why they both lost only their pants and nothing else) warmed her down to her bones. Slowly she opened one eye and noticed something else was wrong. She definitely was not in her room. She also noticed that she was lying on her stomach in a very comfortable bed clutching her pillow with her left arm. She mentally went over the list she has made:

Her pillow and sheets smelled of him.

There was a body wrapped very securely around her.

She couldn’t remember how she got here (yet she also didn’t remember taking anything mind-altering last night . . . ).

Oh, and she’d somehow lost her pants (which, she now noticed, are hanging neatly on the back of the chair across the room).

Groggily, she lifted her head and turned to her right, only to come face to face with the answer to all her questions: John Sheppard.

Feeling her movement, John opened his eyes and found himself looking into the eyes of one sleepy Elizabeth Weir. Slowly, he smirked and said, “Morning.”

“Mmm. Not quite.”

“Ah.” He looked away from her face briefly to take in the darkened room. “Still dark.”

“Yup.” Elizabeth noticed that they must be more tired than she thought, considering how monosyllabic they were being. She almost began to nod off before she realized that she had some questions that really should be answered. “John?”

“Hmm?”

“How’d I get here?”

He opened one eye and smirked again. Damn that smirk. “Don’t remember?”

“Would I ask if I did?”

“Well,” he began, “I found you walking the halls last night when you couldn’t sleep -”

“That I remember.”

“No interruptions, Doctor.”

“Sorry, Colonel.”

“Anyways, I found you in the hall. We walked around talking for a bit before you stumbled -- from sheer exhaustion I suspect. You spilled your tea all over my shirt and pants and some on your pants.”

“Yes, I remember that much. You gave me a pair of pants to change into and then went into the bathroom to change yourself and then . . . I don’t remember what happened next.”

“When I came out of the bathroom, I found you asleep on my bed. Thought it would be rude to wake you.”

“Ah.” Throughout this whole interlude, they both had closed their eyes and were talking in hushed tones. Both were on the edge of sleep. “And my pants?”

“Fell asleep before you could put them on. Didn’t think you’d want me dressing you.”

“Thought right. And your pants?”

“Only fair if you weren’t wearing any . . .”

“Nice. And your leg and arm?”

Apparently noticing their position for the first time, he wiggled them both experimentally and replied, “Happened naturally.”

“M’k.” She was very close to drifting back to sleep.

“Any more questions?”

“Umm . . . no.”

“Good.” John shifted to his back and pulled Elizabeth to his side while slipping one arm under and around her. “Then go back to sleep.”

Elizabeth shifted her head comfortably on his chest. Then, after thinking for a second, she snaked her arm across John and under his shirt to grab firmly at his hip. Then she slowly slid her leg down between his and hooked her ankle around his. John lay perfectly still during all this with his eyes wide open. He glanced down at Elizabeth’s head and croaked, “Elizabeth?”

Fighting back a laugh, but not a small smile, she simply responded, “Only fair.”

John chuckled, pulled her closer before they both let the sandman come and take them away.
